Brinkers signs on as supplier to Team Qhubeka ASSOS

Brinkers Food is pleased to announce that it has become a supplier to Africa’s UCI WorldTour cycling outfit Team Qhubeka ASSOS, which will further boost the nutritional performance of the team in one of the world’s toughest sports.

As the world’s leading fully certified producer of a wide range of high quality organic chocolate spreads, our association with Africa’s premier first division sport’s team is the perfect fit.

Already over 130 years, the family owned company Brinkers Food is producing the most delicious chocolate spreads. Whenever you are doing this for such a long period of time, there will be a moment in time that you have thought about everything. And that is the moment that you produce the most delicious chocolate spread ever, La Vida Vegan.

Head nutrionist at Team Qhubeka ASSO, Dr. Samefko Ludidi, commented: “When performing at the highest level, all year round, taking care of what you eat is one of the most important things to do – constantly fueling to perform. This is only possible when our team have access to products that meet the same high standards as everything else does in elite cycling.

To us this means that all the products we work with need to have a certain added value in terms of the nutrients that they deliver – think in particular the refuelling after a race – but also in terms of the experience that they offer to the consumer: our riders.

With La Vida Vegan we meet the demands of the team in several ways. First and foremost, there are many different tastes of spreads and they are all, simply, delicious. If you want an athlete to eat in a better way, then it needs to taste good. So for every athlete, there is something that matches his personal preference. On top, the spreads fit perfectly in our preloading and recovery protocols and they are just a perfect supplement to our chef Peter, who’s been able to create the most delicious recipes with them.

Sustainability is another thing that we find important in the partners we work with. La Vida Vegan is one of few brands that makes its spreads completely plant based, without palm oil and with no plastics and produces according to the Fairtrade standards.”

If we want to build a better world, this means we have to create overall healthier ecosystems, also in terms of food production (cradle to cradle) and health management (prevention vs. curation). As a pro-racing team, I believe it is our responsibility to keep improving ourselves and inspire our fans to make better choices. But also to inspire all others who set examples within the elite cycling world to adopt choices that not only benefit the individual team, but society as a whole.”

“I am because we are. Ubuntu.”
